NMC Names Two Fellows

Northwestern Michigan College (NMC) has named Bill Marsh Jr. and Roberta Teahen as the 2020 recipients of the NMC Fellow award. The prize, which is considered NMC’s highest honor, recognizes individuals who have made “exceptional contributions” to the college.

Marsh, who co-owns the Bill Marsh Auto Group with his two brothers, has been a member of the NMC Foundation Board since 2010. He served as board chair from 2016 to 2018 and is currently involved in the public phase of NMC’s “Be What’s Possible” fundraising campaign.

Teahen was a longtime administrator with NMC, holding positions such as dean of occupational studies, dean of workforce development, and director of student development throughout her 30 years at the college. She left NMC in 2001 and is now the director of the doctorate community college leadership program at Ferris State University.

NMC has named at least one Fellow each year since 1964. Criteria for the award states that Fellows “may be nominated because they have demonstrated influential networking on behalf of the College; have demonstrated a pattern of outstanding financial or personal time contributions to NMC; or as a retiree of the College continue to contribute back to their academic or professional fields as volunteers, mentors, or advisors.”
