Second Coronavirus Case Linked To Central High School

A second positive coronavirus case was linked to Traverse City Central High School Friday - one believed to be unrelated to the first case identified earlier this week.

The Grand Traverse County Health Department is investigating the case and will directly notify any close contacts who need to stay home and quarantine or take additional health measures, according to a release from Traverse City Area Public Schools. If a student or staff member is not contacted by the Health Department, it means that the student or staff member was not identified as a close contact of the person who tested positive.

As an additional precaution, Central High School will be deep cleaned and disinfected again and any buses or other potentially affected areas will receive an additional cleaning and disinfection prior to student and staff use. Central High School was moved to virtual instruction for two days this week following the first positive case identified at the school in order to allow the Health Department time to complete contract tracing. The high school reopened for face-to-face instruction Friday.
