TC Man Arrested on Child Sexual Assault Charges

A 44-year-old Traverse City man, Travis Frantz, is facing multiple charges related to the alleged sexual assault of three children under the age of 13.

According to the Michigan State Police, troopers from the Traverse City post began investigating an alleged sexual assault involving minor children in March 2023. "During the preliminary investigation, evidence suggested that crimes against children had occurred," according to an MSP release. "However, prosecution was not possible at that time."

The case was re-opened in June 2026 after additional information was developed, leading to the arrest of Frantz on July 15. "It is alleged that Frantz sexually assaulted three children under the age of thirteen beginning in 2019, immediately after his discharge from parole related to a prior criminal sexual conduct conviction involving children under thirteen," according to MSP.

During his arrest, Frantz did not comply with troopers’ commands and resisted authorities, MSP says. Troopers were able to gain control and take him into custody. He was lodged at the Grand Traverse County Jail.

Frantz was arraigned on July 16 in 86th District Court on five counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct (under 13, defendant 17+) and three counts of resisting and obstructing a police officer. His bond was set at $50,000 cash or surety. His next court appearance is scheduled for September 25 at 2pm.
