Traverse City MMA Fighter Faces Charges
A Traverse City-based mixed martial arts fighter is accused of harassing an ex-girlfriend by posting naked photos of her online.
Christos George Piliafas, 41, was charged with unlawful posting of a message, a felony that carries up to two years in prison. Piliafas allegedly threatened the woman after an argument in December that he would send nude photos of her to his thousands of Facebook followers. The woman told investigators she heard from people who received the photos. Piliafas told the woman, according to the charges, “When you walk in public and see people laughing or whispering to each other when they see you, just know you did it to yourself.”
Traverse City Police connected the threats to an IP address at a car dealership where Piliafas works.
According to a Facebook profile, Christos “the Mad Greek” Piliafas is a “professional mix martial arts fighter." Piliafas has been promoting northern Michigan Aggressive Fight League fights. He has 3,711 followers on Facebook.
Piliafas is not allowed to post anything online, including to social media, as a condition of his $25,000 personal recognizance bond, according to the court file. Piliafas turned himself in April 1.
