Traverse City State Theatre Announces Reopening Plans
Shuttered since early February due to a leak in its ceiling, the Traverse City State Theatre has announced that it is ready to reopen. The downtown movie house will resume programming this weekend.
“Our ceiling is back in great shape, the stars are twinkling, and we are excited for you to join us once again,” the State announced in an email. “And what better time to welcome you back than on Oscar weekend! This Friday night we will be showing the Oscar Nominated Documentary Short Films at 7pm, and come Saturday we will have showings of the Oscar Nominated Live Action, Animation, and Documentary shorts.”
The Oscar-centric programming will culminate on Sunday, with a free-to-the-public viewing party for the 98th annual Academy Awards. “Many of the films we have shown over the past year will be up for awards, as are a number of films on our rescheduled [TCFF Tuesdays] Winter Season lineup, which starts again NEXT Tuesday, March 17,” the email concluded.
