Two Seriously Injured in Blair Township Fire
Two Blair Township residents were seriously injured in a fire early Friday morning.
Authories responded at 4:20am Friday to a residence on County Road 633 in Blair Township for a residential fire with one person still inside. Blair Township Fire located and rescued an unconscious 51-year-old man who was partially inside the residence. A deputy located a 52-year-old woman who had been inside the residence driving her car attempting to get help. The woman and man, both residents of the home, were then transported to Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. The man suffered serious burns and was flown to Grand Rapids, where he is listed in serious condition. The woman was listed in stable condition.
Departments including the Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office, Blair Township Emergency Services, Green Lake Township Emergency Services, Paradise Township Emergency Services, Long Lake Township Emergency Services, Buckley Fire Rescue, Grand Traverse Metro Fire Department, Traverse City Fire Department, and Inland Township Fire Department responded to the fire. The Michigan State Police (MSP) Fire Investigation team, an MSP K-9 team, and troopers from the MSP Traverse City Post assisted with the fire investigation. Molon Excavating assisted with excavation.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
