US-31, M-37 Lane Closures Next Week

Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) crews will undertake construction projects starting Monday that will require lane closures on US-31 near Traverse City State Park and on M-37 north of M-113.

Crews will be working with assistance from the Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge Administration (IBA) Monday through Thursday to perform preventative maintenance work on the pedestrian bridge over US-31 near Traverse City State Park. The project involves utilizing a new type of painting process the IBA has also used on the International Bridge. The work will require daytime single-lane closures on US-31 with traffic shifts. Work will be done on the northbound/eastbound side of the bridge in the mornings and the southbound/westbound side in the afternoons to reduce traffic impacts.

MDOT crews will also start a project Monday to gather soil and pavement samples on M-37 from north of M-113 to south of Vance Road as part of a planning process for future construction projects. The work will require daytime single-lane closures on M-37 under flag control. Crews will be working on the project through Friday, October 5.
