"Black and Blue" At The State Tuesday

Oct. 20, 2014

The U of M Club of Grand Traverse is hosting the film "Black & Blue – The Story of Gerald Ford, Willis Ward & the 1934 Michigan-Georgia Tech Football Game" on Tues., Oct. 21, 6pm, at the State Theatre in TC.

The showing coincides with the 80th anniversary of the legendary game – a time when Jim Crow was a fact of life in college football, the Wolverines' best player was an African-American from Detroit and Georgia Tech refused to play the game unless he was benched.

Tickets are $5 at the door and the film's director, Brian Kruger, will introduce the film and hold a Q&A following the screening.
