Count Day Today For School Districts

Student Count Day is taking place for schools districts across the area today. Ten percent of state funding for Michigan schools is based on counts taken in February, while the other 90 percent comes from an October count. State funding comprises the majority of the budget for districts such as Traverse City Area Public Schools, however, so officials stress the importance of student attendance on both days.
Should school be canceled on Count Day, the count will take place the following school day.
