Feature Film Seeking Local Talent

July 28, 2015

This August, YMCA Camp Hayo-Went-A on Arbutus Lake will host the production of “Camp Manna,” a feature length-comedy filming in Traverse City. The production is seeking local acting talent and will be holding two open casting calls on Saturday, Aug. 1 from 1-6pm and Wednesday, August 5 from 2-7pm. Both casting calls will be held at the Traverse City Elks Lodge at 625 Bay Street. Speaking and non-speaking roles are available. A project description is below. For more details, click here.

PROJECT SUMMARY: A stylistic throwback to the summer camp films of the 80’s and 90’s, Camp Manna is the hilariously revealing story of a Christian camp turned inside-out by the arrival of wayward teenager, Ian Fletcher. When a freak crocodile attack botches Ian’s baptism and tears his faith (and family) to pieces, the 16-year-old Aussie is sent to live with his relatives in the United States. Upon arrival, he is bussed off to Camp Manna, a remote Christian camp designed to “turn boys into men of faith” by way of a Biblically-themed Olympiad known as the “God Games.” At camp, Ian is sure to find healing and friendship through this place.
