Garfield Township Gets Its Dog Park

Oct. 31, 2013

Garfield residents have a nearby place to let their dogs romp now that the township’s new dog park is open. The new play area, on East Silver Lake Road south of the restrooms at the Silver Lake Recreation Area, includes some 50,000 square feet for larger dogs and 18,750 square feet for smaller dogs. There’s an open field area and a partly wooded area, as well as bags and cans for owners to clean up after their pets.

More upgrades are expected in the spring when an irrigation system and a water source for the dogs will be added, according to township deputy planner Brian VandenBrand.
