GT Parks & Rec to Host Paddling Film Festival Thursday

By Beth Milligan | April 23, 2024

Grand Traverse County Parks and Recreation will present the 19th Annual Paddling Film Festival at Howe Arena in Traverse City on Thursday, April 25.

The Paddling Film Festival is an "international adventure film tour presenting the world’s best paddling films of the year – whitewater, sea kayaking, canoeing, SUP, and lifestyle – in more than 120 cities and towns across the United States, Canada, and around the world," according to a county release. The Traverse City screening at Howe Arena will be the only Michigan screening of the 2024 festival tour.

The event will feature a selection of paddling films with a run time of approximately two hours. "Audiences will see hairy whitewater action, sea kayakers exploring remote coastlines, northern river canoe expeditions, international river travel films, motivating environmental documentaries, and grueling kayak fishing battles," according to the release. "Attracting paddlers and outdoor enthusiasts, audiences can expect a fun, social and entertaining event inspired by compelling films."

Doors open at 5:30pm and the show begins at 6:30pm. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. Tickets can be purchased online or at Backcountry North, Brick Wheels, Earthen Ales, and Bayfront Beach and Bike shop.
