Kalkaska Sheriff Dies At 44

Nov. 30, 2015

Kalkaska Sheriff Abraham DeVol passed away Saturday of natural causes. He was 44 years old. DeVol joined the department in 1996 as a deputy, moving up through the ranks to sergeant and undersheriff until he was appointed sheriff in March. DeVol replaced retiring former Sheriff David Israel.

"Our deepest condolences go to the Sheriff's family," Undersheriff Pat Whiteford wrote in a media release this weekend. Funeral arrangements for DeVol have not yet been announced.
