Realignment of TCAPS Human Resources

Sept. 23, 2016

Traverse City Public Schools (TCAPS) Executive Director of Human Resources & Labor Relations Christine Davis will have a reduced role effective immediately as part of "a bit of an adjustment," says Superintendent Paul Soma.

Soma says Davis will now be focused on the district's policy development, which TCAPS "needed with so many things coming, making sure all policies are up to date and aligned with the board and with our MI Excel program [a statewide system to improve student and teacher performance]." Soma said he also wants Davis to continue her work on the drug-free task force. "I asked her to focus her attention there and not continue at this moment in time with any human resource negotiation activities she’s also been responsible for." In the short-term, Soma will be absorbing those responsibilities and staff.
