Teen Facing Home Invasion Charges

Feb. 12, 2016

A 17-year-old Traverse City male is facing likely home invasion charges after he was caught trying break into a house from which he had stolen items on two other occasions this year.

Grand Traverse Sheriff's Office deputies were called to an Arbutus Hill Road home Monday after a resident heard a noise outside the house and came face-to-face with a teenager standing outside a window near the rear entrance. The teen took off running when he was spotted. Sheriff's Office K-9 Hess and his handler were able to track down and locate the suspect. The teen was arrested on an outstanding warrant for larceny.

Deputies also uncovered property in the suspect's home that had been stolen in two previously reported break-ins at the Arbutus Hill residence this year. Stolen items included video games, money and women's underwear. Deputies are seeking home invasion charges against the suspect.
