Victim Identified In Fatal Car Crash

Feb. 11, 2016

A Traverse City man was killed and two others were seriously injured in a three-car accident on Garfield Avenue Tuesday night.

The accident occurred just before 6:30pm a quarter-mile south of Boone Street. A Chrysler PT Cruiser driven by 24-year-old Merissa Ann Watson of Mancelona was heading north on Garfield when Watson lost control of the vehicle, crossing two travel lanes over the center line into the southbound lane of Garfield.

Watson and her passenger, 54-year-old Bryan Matthew Davidson of Traverse City, were struck by a southbound Nissan Altima driven by 59-year-old Susan Noel Randazzo. The PT Cruiser was also struck by a third vehicle, a Volkswagen sedan driven by 33-year-old Lewis Joseph Thelen of Traverse City.

Davidson was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Watson and Randazzo were taken to Munson Medical Center with serious injuries. Thelen was uninjured in the accident. All of the vehicles involved in the accident sustained considerable damage.

Watson was driving too fast for conditions, according to the Traverse City Police Department. The crash has been turned over to the Grand Traverse County Prosecuting Attorney for review, but charges have not been requested in the case.
