City Opera House Seeks Canopy

July 4, 2015

Traverse City commissioners will consider giving their support Monday night to the construction of a canopy over the front entrance to the City Opera House on Front Street. City Opera House board members have already secured the green light for the marquee's design from the TC Historic District Commission, as well as the State Historic Preservation Office. The nonprofit is proposing to construct and maintain the feature at no cost to the city. Should commissioners approve the marquee, board members say they will "solidify private funding sources and and proceed with this project in a timely manner."
