Driver Crashes Into BATA Bus

July 28, 2016

A 32-year-old Dayton man avoided serious injury but heavily damaged his car after colliding with a Bay Area Transportation Authority (BATA) bus this weekend.

The man was driving north on M-22 Sunday at 2:18pm and failed to notice that a BATA bus was stopped and waiting in the road to turn left into Leelanau Sands Casino. The man collided with the bus from behind. Both the driver and his two passengers received only minor injuries in the collision, though his Chevrolet sustained heavy front-end damage. The driver of the bus, a 59-year-old Williamsburg man, was not injured in the crash.

The driver of the Chevrolet was ticketed for failing to stop in an assured clear distance.
