Football Rivalry Will Raise Funds For Dogs In Honor

June 19, 2015

Proceeds from this year's TC Patriot Game – the annual football clash between TC West and Central – on September 11 will go to Dogs In Honor, an organization that trains service dogs for combat Veterans struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder. Student Senate leaders at both schools chose the Michigan-based organization to receive funds raised through the sale of commemorative shirts after interviewing three Veteran organizations. They chose the service dog program because they felt it would not only receive a tremendous boost from the proceeds, but also from the publicity.

This will be the fourth year of the TC Patriot Game. Coaches from the two schools felt it was critical to show students that while the game is important, there are bigger issues to be considered. “We want our students to honor and respect the service of our Veterans,” says TC West Coach Tim Wooer. “There are many people who had their feet on the ground at Thirlby Field who now have their feet on foreign soil in support of our country.”

Shirts go on sale in August. More information about the game is availalbe at the school's athletic offices or by contacting TC Patriot Game Director Scott Herzberg.
