Suspect Sought In Hotel Armed Robbery

Grand Traverse Sheriff's Office deputies are looking for a man believed to be armed and dangerous who robbed the Sleep Inn in Acme Township Sunday night.

The man entered the hotel shortly before 6pm and demanded money from the clerk. He displayed what was believed to be a handgun tucked into his waistband. The suspect took $280 in cash and fled the hotel.

Deputies describe the man as white, weighing approximately 200 pounds, slightly taller than 6 feet, and having a rough appearance with a brown-colored scruffy beard. The suspect was wearing a worn-out, dark green color parka-type coat and a red plaid hat with fur and ear flaps.

Any member of the public who spots someone matching the suspect's description or who has information on the crime is asked to contact Grand Traverse County Central Dispatch by dialing 911 or calling the non-emergency line at 231-922-4550. The robbery remains under investigation.
