Town Hall Meeting: Prescription Drug Abuse

Northern Michigan Regional Entity, 7&4 News, ABC 29&8 and UpNorthLive.com present will present Finding A Solution, A Prescription Drug AbuseTown Hall Meeting tomorrow (Wed.), May 4, 7-8pm,  at the Dennos Museum Center’s Milliken Auditorium in Traverse City.

“We hope you will learn more about how we can act to prevent addiction, support effective treatments, and most importantly, reduce the stigma associated with addiction,” said Northern Michigan Regional Entity’s CEO Dave Schneider.

Town Hall panelists include Laurie Ames, Catholic Human Services Substance Abuse Disorder Prevention Coordinator; Allen Telgenhof, Charlevoix County Prosecutor; Dr. Eugene Wang, Medical Specialist, Harborside Spine & Sports Center; and Ashli Green, in recovery. The discussion will focus on prevention and include use and misuse of prescription opiates, and the rising trend of illicit opiate use and overdoses. 7&4 News Anchors Marc Schollett and Kristen Lowe will moderate the Town Hall meeting, and ABC 29&8 News Anchor Jamie Innis will provide updates throughout the meeting on UpNorthLive’s facebook and twitter feeds. 

Doors open at 6:15pm. Also, the hour-long presentation will stream live on UpNorthLive.com.
