200+ Homes, Businesses Have Water Again

March 6, 2015

The City of Traverse City provided an update late yesterday concerning the frozen water service lines within the city limits. It confirms that there have now been more than 300 calls concerning freeze ups; more than 200 of the service lines have been thawed. The estimated wait time for service to treat the frozen lines is now less than two days.

The update also states that up to this point the Wastewater Treatment Plant has not experienced an overflow issue due to increased water flow from residences and businesses running water 24/7, but officials do ask for residents' assistance in moderating flow into the plant. This can be done by taking shorter showers and staggering your household's shower schedule, as well as by doing laundry in the early morning or late evening.

The City will give another update regarding the situation today (Friday) at 3pm.
