2022 Season Will Be Final One For Swingshift And The Stars

By Beth Milligan | March 17, 2022

Swingshift and the Stars will make its upcoming 15th season in 2022 the final one for the group, organizers announced this week.

"When Swingshift and the Stars started back in 2008, no one dreamed of the profound impact that this 'little event' would have on our community," the organization said in a release. "But after 14 amazing (soon to be 15), fun-filled years, over $4.1 million raised, and 122 local nonprofit partnerships, literally tens of thousands of Michiganders have been impacted by Swingshift and the Stars." The organization raises money for nonprofits through a series of dance event competitions each year featuring participants representing local groups.

Swingshift and the Stars will announce its roster of 2022 nonprofits and performers on August 25. "While it is hard to say goodbye, we're planning to go big this year with our usual excitement and confidence, knowing it's been an amazing run," the organization said in the release. Swingshift and the Stars founder Judy Harrison has purchased and renovated a commercial building on US-31 South near Chums Corner called Flat Cap, with the release stating that the Harrisons are "excited about the entrepreneurial and philanthropic opportunities" the building will present going forward.
