$400k In New Grant Funding For Boardman Project

A recent grant award of $400,000 will help continue the Boardman Rivers Dams and Restoration Project. The Great Lakes Fish and Wildlife Restoration Act awarded $300,000 and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Great Lakes Basin Fish Habitat Partnership awarded another $100,000.

In awarding the funds, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service noted the potential for high impact on wildlife and habitat as well as the collaborative work of all the project partners.

Total dollars raised for the current project phase total $3.7 million. In addition to fundraising, the project team is engaged in design/specification processes for the removal of Boardman Dam and replacement of the Cass Road crossing. The Cass Road bridge construction is slated to begin in 2016. Boardman Dam removal work in 2017 and Sabin Dam removal in 2018.
