Artists Sought To Design Bryan Crough Memorial

May 23, 2016

The Traverse City Arts Commission is seeking artists to submit bids for a planned memorial for former Downtown Development Authority (DDA) director Bryan Crough in Lay Park.

Both individual artists and teams of artists over age 18 are invited to apply to create a sculpture that will "celebrate the spirit of Bryan Crough, be a destination and a landmark in Traverse City, and live in perpetuity in downtown Traverse City." The Arts Commission is seeking a work that is "something beyond a conventional bronze statute...it must have a sense of movement and dynamism that reflects the active, energetic community leader that Bryan was." The project has a $50,000 available budget, and must be complete in time for a planned public dedication in June 2017.

Project bids are being accepted through June 17. Artists must submit a letter of interest, resume, images of representative work history, professional references, and supporting materials. Hard copies of bids are preferred, but online bids will be accepted. For complete project criteria, click here.
