Beyond the Ballot with the League of Women Voters

March 18, 2024

A century after its launch, the League of Women Voters has over 750 chapters across the country, with four right here in northern Michigan. In this week's Northern Express - sister publication of The Ticker - writer Kierstin Gunsberg catches up with the Leelanau, Grand Traverse, Manistee, and Petoskey chapters to find out more about their current efforts, goals, and impacts. From how their individual LWV chapters started to what they're doing right now in northern Michigan to the issues they're focused on both locally and nationally, representatives from each chapter share the driving forces behind their work.

The Northern Express is available to read online, or pick up a free copy on newsstands at nearly 700 spots in 14 counties across northern Michigan.
