Boardman River Trail Open

Sept. 17, 2014

The Boardman River Trail is officially open. The trail provides 7 miles of single-track from Mayfield Pond Park (just west of S. Garfield Rd. in Mayfield between Traverse City and Kingsley) to the North Country Trail. The trail is ideal for hiking, bike camping, trail running, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. It also serves as a connecting trail for people to walk or bike to the nearby soccer fields, the Nature Education Reserve and Kingsley. Future sections of the trail – up to 24 miles along the Boardman River Valley – are in development.

Traverse Area Recreation and Transportation Trails will celebrate the trail opening at a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wed., Oct. 8, at 4pm at the Mayfield Pond Park.
