BOB FM Announces New Morning Format
Oct. 8, 2013
Following a four-week teaser campaign that fueled local rumors that WZTC 104.5 BOB FM was changing formats and/or replacing morning talk show host Sean "Finster" Finnegan, the station announced this morning it is indeed revamping its morning show - though Finster will remain on board.
Beginning today, local radio personality Vic McCarty - who handles live sports and news breaks for the station and also hosts The Vic McCarty Show on WMKT - will join the morning show at the BOB, which will be rechristened McCarty & Finster in the Morning. The show will run Monday-Friday from 5:15-10 a.m.
"We're constantly evaluating our success and looking for opportunities to develop it further," said station operations manager Peter Garber, who noted the BOB's musical format of hits from the '80s, '90s and today will remain in place. "We felt this was a good next step for what's becoming a very popular local radio show."
Garber said the station's decision to play "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin for 24 hours straight yesterday leading up to this morning's announcement was a playful way to signal the format change, something ownership has done at other stations in the past right before format switches.
"It was a fun way to get people's imaginations going," he laughs. "There were some interesting guesses going around about what was going to happen."
