Campaign to Restore Gwen Frostic Art Studio

July 22, 2014

Gwen Frostic Prints in Benzonia has launched "A Walk with Gwen" on crowdfunding site Crowdrise to help save the building where Gwen Frostic built her art studio in 1964. The studio was purchased in 2010 "when the building was already in great peril," according to the campaign page. "The roof continues to cave in, causing horrific water damage and disarray." The historic home and wildlife sanctuary hasn't been restored since its opening. The renowned author and artist died on April 25, 2001, one day before her 95th birthday.

To kick off the building fundraising campaign – with a goal of $250,000 – Gwen Frostic Prints is hosting "Gwen Day" on Sat., Aug. 16 – 50 years after the studio was built – to honor Gwen and raise funds to restore the building.
