County Hires New HR Director

June 29, 2016

Grand Traverse County has hired a new human resources director, filling a leadership position that's been vacant since March 2015.

Aimee Carroll, a HR generalist at Munson Medical Center, will begin her new role with the county July 11. "I am most pleased we can now fill (this position) and get working on some very key issues," says County Administrator Tom Menzel, who identified the position as one of two key vacant roles that needed to be filled in his core leadership team. The other position, the county finance director, was recently filled by former Flint Chief Financial Officer Jody Lundquist.

Menzel says there are several initiatives he hopes to have Carroll tackle, including an organizational redesign of the HR department, rewriting county job descriptions, and developing a training and development curriculum for managers and employees to enhance career path opportunities within the county. "I also want the HR department to become more of an internal consultant to all department heads, to help them manage and improve employee relationships and motivation," Menzel says.

Carroll's salary will start at just under $80,000 per year.
