DDA Board To Talk Downtown Housing

May 5, 2016

Downtown Development Authority (DDA) board members will discuss housing options in downtown Traverse City at a special study session Friday at 8am at the Governmental Center.

DDA Executive Director Rob Bacigalupi tells The Ticker the purpose of the meeting is to "clarify the DDA's role in helping housing occur in downtown."

"We've always talked about housing, but we don't have a real definite plan (in addressing it)," Bacigalupi says, noting the organization's broad policy is "to encourage mixed-use" developments. "We need more clarity in terms of our role."

Regional Planning Department Manager Sarah Lucas of Networks Northwest and Grand Traverse County Planning Director John Sych will both give presentations on area housing needs and initiatives at the meeting, according to Bacigalupi.
