Dennos Museum Center Gets a New Look and New Exhibits

This week’s Northern Express — sister publication of The Ticker — heads to the museum. In addition to celebrating its 35th anniversary (as well as the 75th anniversary of parent institution Northwestern Michigan College) Dennos Museum Center will unveil a new look and four new exhibits this summer.
One of those exhibits is a traveling exhibit from the Smithsonian’s Museum on Main Street and the National Museum of the American Indian. "Americans" arrived at an auspicious time as the country prepares to celebrate its 250th anniversary.
“It provides an opportunity to not only celebrate American history but place it in the wider framework of what has happened over the past 250 years,” says Dennos Executive Director & Chief Curator Craig Hadley. “It’s being able to talk about American Indian history and contemporary American Indians…as well as the context of some of the struggles and past historical wrongs.”
Pick up a free copy of this week’s Northern Express, available to read online or at one of nearly 650 spots in 13 counties across northern Michigan.
