Discovery Center Gets $9k Grant

The Discovery Center – Great Lakes has received a $9,350 grant from the Michigan Humanities Council to develop educational signs and interpretive panels for its upcoming Ship Shapes exhibit. The grant is in addition to a $6,000 grant from the Traverse Bay Sunrise Rotary Club for the exhibit's construction and in-kind donation of materials from Preston Feather Building Center in Traverse City.

The exhibit will be displayed in the Discovery Center's courtyard and will allow all ages to explore different types of ships, including a historic Mackinaw boat, a modern sloop and a model of a Coast Guard buoy tender.
