Donuts Are Back On Garfield

The donuts have returned to South Garfield in Traverse City, in the same location vacated by Serious Donut Co. in September. Misty Franklin opened Franklins Donut Co. next to her husband Brian's business, Northwest Oil Express, on Dec. 13. Located at 1779 S. Garfield, the donut shop offers a variety of cake and yeast-raised donuts. Early favorites are a chocolate donut with mint icing and a red velvet cake donut with cream cheese icing sprinkled with red velvet crumbs, according to Trevor Franklin, co-owner (Misty's son) and one of the donut makers. He adds that each day they also make a different flavored fritter. Hours are Monday-Friday, 6am to 4pm, and Saturday, 7am to 3pm.
