Elk Rapids Man Killed In US-31 Accident

A 72-year-old Elk Rapids man was killed in a two-vehicle accident shortly after noon Tuesday on US-31 North near Bethesda Court in Acme Township. Information gathered at the scene indicates a northbound van occupied by four people lost control, crossed the center line and was struck by a southbound passenger vehicle occupied by two people. The passenger of the southbound vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of injuries from the crash. The road was partially closed as investigators worked at the scene. Details about the condition of the other passengers involved in the crash have not yet been released.
