Family-Friendly Earth Day Event Sunday At Twin Lakes

Grand Traverse County RecycleSmart, in cooperation with Grand Traverse County Parks and Recreation, will host its second annual Earth Day event Sunday (April 22) at Twin Lakes Park and Gilbert Lodge.

The free event will take place rain or shine from 11am to 4pm. The event will offer educational opportunities to learn about recycling, composting, water protection, invasive species, earth-friendly gardening, energy conservation, and more. Family-friendly activities will include: 

> A scavenger hunt with prize drawings
> Wings of Wonder Live Raptor Program
> Meet the Fleet & Photo Op – American Waste Recycling Truck; DNR Fire Brush Truck
> The Basics of Backyard Composting Demonstration
> Guided nature walks with Grand Traverse County Parks & Recreation
> Live music from Jack Pine TC
> Food for purchase from Rockwich Food Truck

Partners in the event include: American Waste, Bay Area Recycling for Charities, Community Foundation Youth Advisory Council, Grand Traverse Beekeeping Club, Grand Traverse Parks and Recreation, Grass River Natural Area, Michigan Agriculture Environmental Assurance Program, Master Gardener Association of Northwest Michigan, Michigan Green Consortium, MSU Extension Master Gardner Volunteer Program, Norte, Northwest Michigan Invasive Species Network, Oryana, Pine Hill Village Garden, Rockwich Food Truck, Roy’s General Store, Stand Up for Great Lakes, Traverse Bay United Methodist Church, Traverse City Light and Power, TruNorth Landscaping, and Wings of Wonder.
