Ferris Students To Host Fundraiser For TC High School

April 4, 2015

A group of social work students attending Ferris State University through the NMC University Center will host a fundraiser for the Traverse City High School Community Learning Center on Sunday, April 19 at the City Opera House. The event is part of an advocacy project assigned to the college students to help those in their community. Says student Christina Walsh of choosing TCHS as a beneficiary: "Many of the students of this alternative education high school do not have any many advantages or resources, but (the Learning Center) is a place where they can learn, explore and build confidence and skills."

The event goes from 5-7:30pm and will feature a silent auction and student showcase featuring student art, music and activities. A $5 donation or pantry items including non-perishable food, hygiene products and socks will be accepted at the door. All donations will go toward supporting TCHS in "providing a balanced meal to students in the program."
