Final Improvement Work Coming to Slabtown Streets

By Beth Milligan | April 18, 2024

Team Elmer’s - working on behalf of the City of Traverse City - will be completing final project elements from the 2023 Madison and Jefferson reconstruction project starting Monday.

Planned work will include the replacement of sidewalk and drive approaches on the 100 and 200 blocks of Madison Street, as well as repair work to topsoil with seed on the 100-400 blocks. Madison work is anticipated to be complete by April 30, weather permitting.

Following the completion of Madison Street, crews will move to Monroe Street to install new sidewalk along the east side. Monroe work is anticipated to be complete in mid-June, weather permitting.

Street closures are not anticipated during the work. However, lane closures will be conducted intermittently. Signage and barricades will be in place in and around the work areas.
