Giovanni's Roadhouse Becomes Maddy's Tavern

Nov. 12, 2012

Giovanni’s Roadhouse in Interlochen has a new name: Maddy’s Tavern. Jeff and Trish Wiltse, who’ve operated the long-standing Italian restaurant for nearly five years, say the name better reflects what’s on the menu. “We were being associated with the old Giovanni's [Giovanni’s Fine Italian Food] so much, but we continued to add categories that weren’t Italian,” Jeff Wiltse told The Ticker. “So, we did the name game and came up with the idea of associating it with Dr. Joseph Maddy, founder of the national music camp in 1928. It just fits the restaurant better.”

The menu is evolving all the time, he says, but the basics remain – steaks, pasta, pizza, burgers, sandwiches, salads, etc. In addition to Maddy’s, the couple also owns and operates The Kitchen, Fire Fly, Bubba’s and Grandview Catering, all operating under TC Food. Maddy’s Tavern is located at 9205 U.S. 31 S., Interlochen. Hours through May are Sun. - Mon. 11:30 a.m. - 9 p.m.; Tues.- Sat. 11:30 a.m. - 10 p.m.; 231-276-6244. For specials click here.
