Grant Township Couple Arrested on Multiple Child Abuse Charges

By Beth Milligan | March 8, 2024

A Grant Township couple has been arrested on multiple first-degree child abuse charges involving four teenage victims.

The Grand Traverse County Sheriff's office received information from Michigan Children’s Protective Services on allegations of possible child abuse or neglect involving a 40-year-old woman and 31-year- old man. "Information gathered indicates that the alleged abuse occurred involving a 17-year-old male," according to the Sheriff's Office. "In addition to this 17-year-old male, two 17-year-old females and a 15-year-old male were identified as victims. The 40-year-old female is the biological mother of the children, and the 31-year-old male is the mother’s husband."

Detectives executed a search warrant at the home of the two suspects in Grant Township on February 29.  Both adults were arrested Friday on three counts of child abuse in the first degree. The suspects have not yet been identified pending arraignment.

"The investigation is still ongoing, and the State of Michigan Children’s Protective Services found alternative residential placement for the children," according to the Sheriff's Office. Sheriff's Office detectives were assisted by a Green Lake Township community police officer and a county road patrol deputy.
