GT County Commissioners Select ARPA Recipients

By Beth Milligan | Dec. 21, 2022

Grand Traverse County commissioners voted Wednesday to allocate the county's nearly $18.1 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding in a marathon meeting that lasted nearly four hours. The grants represent a wide range of nonprofit, infrastructure, government, housing, parks and recreation, and health and human service projects - from lead service line replacements and workforce housing to childcare centers and emergency service upgrades. The largest allocation, $5 million, will go toward mental health services/infrastructure in the region. That could include a proposed new local mental wellness center, but commissioners left the exact projects in that category to be determined by a future board.
