Here's Traverse City's Best-Selling Car (Truck), Though Subarus Are Gaining

Oct. 5, 2023

In its annual look at local car and truck sales, the Traverse City Business News just published their annual look at which are the most popular sellers at area dealerships.

Just like virtually every year of the past decade, the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup came in as the top-selling new vehicle from January-June 2023, followed closely by the Ford F-150 pickup. But as Subaru sales surge nationally, they're also catching fire in northern Michigan: The Subaru Outback came in at #5, the Crosstrek at #9, and the Forester at #10. Data also shows that -- whiile Serra Automotive leads all the local dealer groups in total new vehicle sales so far this year -- the disparity between sales at the dealer groups continues to shrink.

The October TCBN also hears from three local auto dealers about the state of the industry; details some local expert advice on passing down cottages to the next generation; showcases four individuals who are on their "second acts"; looks at an ambitious, upscale Old Mission Peninsual residential development; and profiles the long-standing yet upstart State Savings Bank.
