Here's What's In Store For TC Film Festival 2019
June 28, 2019
"Cinema Saves The World" is the theme of the 2019 Traverse City Film Festival, which will be highlighted by a visit from Lily Tomlin, who will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award.
In all, the 15th annual festival will screen more than 100 feature films and 75 short films at nine Traverse City venues between July 30 and August 4.
At Traverse City's Open Space, the following films will be shown free on the giant, inflatable screen:
The Little Mermaid
Star Wars: Episode VI: Return of the Jedi
Back to the Future (People’s Choice Winner)
Captain Marvel
Woodstock
Mary Poppins Returns
The showing of Woodstock is part of a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the music festival; other Woodstock and rock-related films will be shown throughout, including the new Woodstock documentary Woodstock: Three Days That Defined A Generation.
The opening night film will be Brittany Runs A Marathon, with special guest appearances; the centerpiece film is After The Wedding, which stars Oscar-winner Julianne Moore and four-time Oscar nominee Michelle Williams; the closing night film is Blinded By The Light, the buzzy new film about a young Pakistani inspired by the music of Bruce Springsteen.
To view the entire schedule of films and more, pickup a copy of the official Traverse City Film Festival Movie Guide, produced by Northern Express, at one of more than 100 locations throughout northern Michigan or view it online here.
Tickets for the festival go on sale for Friends of the TCFF Sunday, July 7 at 9am at the main box office and 6pm online. Public ticketing begins Saturday, July 13 at 10am at the box office and 6pm online.
