House Fire Contained on Pine Street

By Beth Milligan | Feb. 11, 2025

Local emergency responders contained a house fire that broke out in an attic in a Pine Street residence in Traverse City early Tuesday.

The Traverse City Fire Department - alongside the Traverse City Police Department, Grand Traverse Metro Emergency Services, and MMR EMS - responded to a reported house fire at 1005 Pine Street. At approximately 5:04am, a neighbor on West Thirteenth Street noticed the smell of smoke and called 911. Upon arrival, firefighters confirmed a fire was active in the attic of the Pine Street residence.

Fire crews made entry into the home, successfully evacuating three occupants and one dog. The fire was contained to the attic, preventing further spread throughout the structure. Following an investigation, the cause of the fire was determined to be a failure of an electrical circuit and wiring in the attic. No injuries were reported among the occupants or emergency personnel.

The residence sustained minor damage, and the occupants are currently arranging for temporary lodging while repairs are underway. Fire units cleared the scene at 6:50am.
