Hurshe Out at Munson Medical Center

Jan. 30, 2026

Northern Michigan's largest hospital is looking for a new leader.

In a statement issued today (Friday), Munson Healthcare Chief Operating Officer Laura Glenn said Munson Medical Center Joe Hurshe is no longer with the organization effective today.

Hurshe, who brought an extensive background in healthcare administration, joined Munson in March of 2024.

Kathy LaRaia, Vice President of Oncology & Professional Services at Munson Healthcare, will step into the role of Interim President while Munson Healthcare conducts a search.

"I want to acknowledge there has been a lot of change in the healthcare industry and at Munson since the global pandemic. However, our commitment to our patients and communities hasn’t changed," Glenn said in the statement. "I am confident our dedicated team will continue to deliver quality, compassionate care at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City under Kathy’s leadership.”
