Jamie Callahan Joins Run for State House

Jamie Callahan of Traverse City has announced his candidacy for State Representative of the 104th District, a seat currently held by term-limited Rep. Wayne Schmidt (R). He joins other declared Republican candidates: former county commissioner Robert Hentschel, current commissioner Larry Inman and Karen Renny as well as Betsy Coffia, who previously ran for the seat as a Democrat in 2012.

Callahan, a Republican, was born and raised in Traverse City and graduated from Traverse City Senior High School in 1989. He attended NMC and then received a Bachelor of Science degree from Marquette University. He currently serves as legislative director for Rep. Phil Potvin (R-102 District) and previously served as chief of staff for Sen. Jason Allen of Traverse City and Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land. Additionally, he was the vice president of Government Affairs for the Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce and the Northern Michigan Regional Chamber Alliance.

In the Traverse City community, Callahan is a member of Immaculate Conception Church, the Ancient Order of Hibernians, the NRA, Trout Unlimited and the Traverse City Elks. He also serves on the National Cherry Festival Board of Governors.
