Jimmy John's Opening Second Location On South Airport Road

May 12, 2016

The franchisee of a Traverse City Jimmy John's shop on East Front Street is planning to open a second location of the national chain on South Airport Road.

Josh Russell plans to open a 1,185 square-foot store between Qdoba Mexican Grill and Family Video at 1288 South Airport Road. The video rental store will be reducing its footprint to make way for the new Jimmy John's.

"We've tried for the last four years to put one on the west side of town, but we've been unable to find the right space," Russell says. "So basically we're opening (what would have been) our third store second. We're still hoping to get one open on the west side."

Russell says the company hopes to have the new store open by "early fall." Westwind Construction, which has overseen the build-outs of multiple Jimmy John's locations in Grand Rapids, will be overseeing construction on the project.
