Travier Reimer, a 55-year-old Kingsley contractor, has been charged with two counts of fraud related to several home construction projects across the region.
According to the Michigan State Police, investigators began looking into the alleged fraud in October. "Preliminary investigations revealed that, between 2017 and the present, homeowners across northern Michigan paid Reimer more than $400,000 for home additions and other construction projects," according to a MSP release. "Although subcontractors completed some of the work, Reimer allegedly failed to pay them and instead used the funds for personal gains. Services and construction projects connected to this case span across Benzie, Grand Traverse, and Antrim counties."
Following a formal review, the Benzie County Prosecutor’s Office authorized a warrant for Reimer's arrest. On January 28, he was arrested and lodged at the Benzie County Jail. Reimer was arraigned on January 29 in 85th District Court on two counts of contractor fraud. His next court appearance is February 19 at 1pm.
"Reimer may have had contact with additional individuals in the community during this period," according to the release. "The State Police encourage anyone who believes they may be a victim to contact the MSP Traverse City Post at 231-938-0714."
