By Beth Milligan | March 11, 2025

A 43-year-old Kingsley man was killed after he allegedly committed a home invasion.

According to the Grand Traverse Sheriff's Office, authorities responded to a home invasion call on March 7 shortly after 10pm. The caller, a 64-year-old man, said someone had broken into his home and that he stabbed the suspect in the abdomen. Multiple local agencies responded to the scene. The suspect, a 43-year-old Kingsley man, was transported by ambulance to Munson Medical Center, where he died.

According to authorities, the suspect had gotten into an argument with his girlfriend prior to the incident. He left their home and took their dog for a walk. Shortly later, the suspect started knocking on the door of a residence down the street. The suspect then allegedly forced his way through the front door and attacked the sole male occupant. The homeowner then stabbed the suspect.

"At this time, it does not appear the two men knew each other," says the Sheriff's Office, adding that there are no "further public safety concerns at this time."
