Lake Leelanau Woman Arrested For Assaulting Sister

Feb. 5, 2016

A 53-year-old Lake Leelanau woman was arrested Wednesday following a violent altercation with her sister.

Leelanau County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a Lake Leelanau resident at 9:22pm after receiving a call reporting an assault. Deputies interviewed two sisters in the home, both of whom were suffering from minor facial injuries. During their interview, deputies determined the sisters had been arguing in the home's kitchen when the fight turned physical. One sister struck the other in the face, splitting open the victim's lip. The victim retaliated and struck her sister in the face.

Deputies arrested the woman who began the altercation for domestic assault and took her to Leelanau County Jail.
